Zorgbalans takes first step toward data-driven working together with SLTN

Zorgbalans is an organization for elderly care in the Kennemerland region and the northern part of South Holland. Zorgbalans supports elderly people in need of care so that they can shape and interpret their lives in their own way for as long as possible. With over 3,600 employees and 900 volunteers, Zorgbalans provides temporary and long-term care, nursing, domestic support, treatment, rehabilitation and assistance with dementia. Both in people’s homes and at a Zorgbalans meeting and residential care center. Zorgbalans has asked SLTN to set up a data platform together with Zorgbalans, providing Zorgbalans with the basis to implement new developments itself that contribute to a more data-driven organization.

State-of-the-art data platform

“Zorgbalans and SLTN carried out a project together to establish a data platform,” says Peter Kuijer, Information Manager at Zorgbalans. “The old platform was very outdated and with SLTN’s knowledge and expertise we actually built a new state-of-the-art data platform according to the latest market standards in a very fast pace.”

Data-driven operations

Ronald Posthumus, Lead Data Services at SLTN, adds: “The solution at Zorgbalans is relevant because with it we have created a data platform that gives them the basis to continue building with data-driven work.”

Artificial intelligence

Peter: “We really want to grow from reports and interactive dashboards to recognizing patterns, to eventually experimenting with artificial intelligence ourselves. We have laid the foundation for this and step by step we are now making a move in the right direction.”

Optimal project approach

Ronald: “The added value in SLTN’s services is particularly realized in the way we approached this project together with Zorgbalans. We made our activities predictable on the basis of flexible sprints and realized the solution in cooperation with Zorgbalans. In the process, we also included Zorgbalans in a new way of working, so that they can use their data platform in the right way and maintain it for the future.”

Data center in the cloud

Peter: “The future plans with SLTN in the near future are on the one hand about the further development of the data platform. On the other hand, together with SLTN we have completely emptied our data center and put everything in the cloud. We are now working with SLTN to architecturally design a new data center 2.0 in the cloud. In doing so, we are looking closely at who is doing what, and that is going very well.”
