Atalmedial is always up and running thanks to SLTN

Atalmedial is one of the largest cooperation partners in the Netherlands in the field of laboratory diagnostics. In addition, Atalmedial operates one of the largest thrombosis services in the Netherlands. Annually, they offer guidance to over 22,000 thrombosis patients, both through regular thrombosis care and self-measurement. From blood sampling to advice on the required dosage of anticoagulation medication.

Excellent availability crucial

For Atalmedial, it starts with being sure. Every day, more than 10,000 tubes of blood are processed for diagnostic testing at the request of general practitioners, obstetricians, institutions, hospitals and other healthcare providers. A modern IT infrastructure and excellent availability are therefore crucial for Atalmedial. Only in this way can the medical diagnostic center ensure that its 800-plus employees can perform their daily work properly.

Keeping track of developments

Digitization is an important distinguishing factor for Atalmedial. Not only to work efficiently, but also to deliver high quality. Because the more digitization, the less chance of errors.
To make this happen, infrastructure is key.

Sjoerd Visser is Manager of Computerization and Automation at Atalmedial and
responsible for complete computerization. “We found out within Atalmedial that we could no longer keep up with all the developments in the I&A field ourselves,” says Sjoerd Visser. “We needed a partner who could support us in this and found this partner in SLTN.”

Time-critical information exchange

Atalmedial has more than 100 locations. Most of the locations are pricking stations where material is taken, such as blood tubes and other body material. Sjoerd Visser: “We have a number of laboratories, including one large central laboratory in Amsterdam and a number of decentralized laboratories at hospitals. All locations must be closely linked. The exchange of information between the locations is very important. The exchange of information to our customers, meaning the applicants, doctors, general practitioners and hospitals, is time-critical and must all be able to happen on a continuous basis. To get that done, we have a complex infrastructure, so we can both get that information to the customers, as well as use it internally to produce all of our information in a good way.”

Complex infrastructure

Sjoerd Visser continues: “We have our own server farm which is hosted by SLTN in the cloud, so the cloud infrastructure. We also have the LAN which is hosted by SLTN, the workstations that are supported, the Wi-Fi infrastructure and of course the connection to our customers that needs to be maintained.”

“We experience SLTN’s service as very good. The service is very stable, our systems are almost always 100% up and running. It is very important to us that this is the case, which is why we chose SLTN as our partner. To be able to support us in this and to ensure continuity.

can guarantee.”

Innovate on the basis of knowledge

“Even when we want new things, SLTN supports us very well in this,” Sjoerd Visser concludes. “They help us to make good choices from knowledge of both all the new developments, the technology and the market. We want to further expand the partnership and have the joint ambition to help Atalmedial further in the field of innovation with ICT.

We’re working hard to see exactly what areas that could be in, but we want to start putting even more effort into that than we have so far.”
